4 Projects - created in 12 weeks - Web Development Course

Tic Tac Toe

This was my very first attempt at coding. I created a basic tic tac toe game with JavaScript, HTML and CSS. I learned the basics in format, syntax and how to apply basic functionality.

Scene in the City

Scene in the City is a map based App for the city of San Francisco. Tourists or movie enthusiasts can type in a movie or TV show title that was filmed here in San Francisco and it will appear on a map so you can go visit that location and see where the stars actually filmed that movie! We used Ruby on Rails 4 and the google API. I am really proud of the fact that we built this App from idea to full functioning product in less than a week. It took us only 6 days! If I were to approach this App differently I would include extra movie and TV show titles that were filmed in San Francisco but not available on our site because they were not included in the film society API's database that we pulled the information from.

Dispensary Finder

For my final project, I created an App using the Ionic framework and AngularJS. Ionic was so awesome to learn because you can develop in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS and push to multiple platforms like iOS and Android and I think that is just brilliant, revolutionary, and the future of web development. The App I created renders all the marijuana medical shops that are legally licensed and recreational shops (in legally licensed states) on a map nation-wide and internationally throughout Canada and Amsterdam, Netherlands. I used the Google maps API along with the Leafly API to render all the marijuana dispensaries on a map based on location. It will be released to the App Store and to Android by June 20th, 2015 and is currently in beta-testing with the Ionic View App and it can be viewed using App ID: 9e6cfbb9

Face Detective

I built a project called "Face Detective" that uses a facial recognition API to look at a photo of a person and give an estimated age, if they are male or female, and if they are wearing glasses. The App was a success but pushing it to Heroku was a horrible and challenging experience that makes me look for other platforms besides Heroku to launch my site. I used node.js express, JQuery, and JavaScript to make this application. If you notice when you click on the link for this site, it does not work. That's because I am keeping this project private for further development. I found a way to snap a photo of anybody and scrap social media databases to find a match using facial recognition.
